Dinçmen Forensic Psychiatry

This first edition of the DINÇMEN Forensic Psychiatry book is a reference work collaboratively created through the dedicated efforts of the late Associate Professor Dr. Kriton Dinçmen's colleagues, former students, and assistants. We believe that including this work among the publications commemorating the 100th anniversary of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty creates a proud opportunity to honor his legacy.

At the time, Dr. Dinçmen worked within the premises of Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Forensic Medicine Institute of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Istanbul University Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Department of Forensic Medicine at Cerrahpaşa. He conducted educational and clinical forensic medicine practices with a profound sense of responsibility, sharing his dedication with those around him. Through this work, we hope to partially repay the immense debt we feel toward him for his significant contributions.

Cerrahpaşa and its medical students, as is widely known, held great importance for him. Although it may come as a surprise, his decision to donate his body posthumously to support medical education at this institution highlighted this significance. Unfortunately, he did not witness the transformation of his beloved faculty and students into a large institution under the new name, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. However, we are delighted that his memory is honored by a publication bearing his name under this esteemed institution. We take comfort in knowing that his final wishes, which he personally expressed and were often reiterated by his beloved spouse Reyhan Dinçmen, have been fulfilled by this endeavor, bringing together our cherished mentor and his beloved students once more.

We would like to inform readers that this book is not intended as a final edition; rather, it is planned as a series to be updated and expanded periodically with the contributions of new editors.
