The Newborn and Child Health Book for Midwives, prepared within the scope of the 100 Books in the 100th Year of the Republic Project of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Rectorate, has been prepared in two volumes with a large midwife and nurse author team, rich theoretical and practical subject content. We believe that the book will be a reference book that will contribute to undergraduate and graduate students as well as midwives in the discipline.

As republican women who are competent in their fields and aim to contribute to newborn and child health in our country, we are pleased to prepare this publication. We are honored and proud to contribute to our responsibility of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Republic and maintaining the Republic alive through such a book. We continue our efforts with the awareness that behind every successful woman in Turkey there is a pair of blue eyes. Therefore, we consider that our efforts will be a model for our young girls and women.

Women have a significant role in the health, socio-economic development and happiness of society. It is crucial for women to be well-informed and educated, for their children to grow up healthy, and for the health of the family and society. Based on the principle of "Children first for future", we are motivated by the scientific strengthening of midwives who provide crucial health care services for children and mothers. We hope that this book will be a reference book for midwives and all those who contribute to newborn and child health. We would like to thank all our colleagues who contributed to the preparation of the book and the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Rectorate for the printing of the publication.
