Audiology

AUDIOLOGY, which became an independent branch of science after World War II, is a branch of science that deals with the normal function, disorders and rehabilitation of the hearing and vestibular system. The fact that hearing loss that occurs at an early age affects all language, speech and academic development, early medical treatment of hearing loss with early intervention, and rehabilitation with amplification tools such as hearing aids or cochlear implants, helps children develop normally and enables them to become productive individuals. In addition, the aging of the population all over the world and the increasing effects on the hearing and vestibular system cause the importance of the science of audiology to increase day by day. With the opening of the first Audiology Undergraduate Department of our country in 2011 at our University, the number of departments has increased rapidly and has reached more than 20 today. Audiologists have started to work in many health, rehabilitation and hearing aid centers and are producing qualified services. In developed countries, the definition of “hearing loss as a public health problem” will cause Audiology to become an even more strategic department. The subjects included in the book have been carefully considered and prepared considering Audiology training programs and ENT Specialist Training programs. It is dedicated to all our colleagues with the hope that it will be useful.
