Basic Pediatric Urology
When we learned about the "100 Books for the 100th Year of the Republic" project at our university, celebrating the centenary of our Republic, we felt compelled to contribute as the Department of Urology, which has the longest history in our country. We take great pride in sharing the experiences we have gained while serving the children entrusted to us by our Republic, especially during this significant 100th anniversary.
Pediatric urology is a specialized field that encompasses a wide range of conditions, from issues that can be effectively managed with behavioral treatments to congenital anomalies that may require major surgical reconstruction. It also includes the management of malignancies and stone diseases. Many children around the world are evaluated by pediatric urologists and receive support for problems that may persist into adulthood.
Despite the breadth of this field, there are limited foundational publications specifically focused on pediatric urology. For this reason, our primary goal has been to create a comprehensive guidebook that consolidates the knowledge acquired in our clinic. This guidebook focuses on pediatric urology, one of the sub-disciplines within the Department of Urology, and features the most up-to-date information on diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
As the editors, we are both privileged and delighted to present a multidisciplinary discussion on congenital anomalies of the urinary system, contributed by a highly competent and experienced team of authors with exceptional academic qualifications. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the authors for their interest and valuable contributions. Our sincere gratitude also goes to IÜC University Publishing House for providing us with this opportunity.
We believe that our book will serve as an important reference for all healthcare professionals interested in pediatric urology, as well as for those providing primary health care services and medical students. We hope that this work will make a meaningful contribution in this area.
