Basic Principles and Clinical Applications in Radiation Oncology

“Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Radiation Oncology” is one of the our country's established and pioneering cancer treatment centers in its field, having been in service since March 28, 1978. Radiation oncologists who work in our department or who have been trained in our clinic and now work in other centers in our country or abroad lead many important scientific research and innovative advancements. In addition to providing radiotherapy services, faculty members of our department also gives lectures to students of the Faculty of Medicine, Medical Specialization, Health Physics Doctorate-Master's Program and Vocational School of Health Services Radiotherapy Program.

We’ve honored to present our book “Basic Principles and Clinical Applications in Radiation Oncology”, within the scope of the "100 Books for the 100th Anniversary of the Republic" project of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic. With this book, we aimed to provide the fundamental knowledge of radiation physics and clinical radiation oncology. This book, which combines current theoretical knowledge with our experiences, is believed to be a beneficial resource for medical students, residents, medical physicist, radiation oncology technicians, medical physicians and other healthcare professionals who are interested in the fields of radiation oncology.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we would like to express our gratitude to those who led and contributed to this valuable project, particularly Rector of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın, as well as the university administration and the publication committee. We also thank all the chapter authors who contributed with great devotion to the creation of this book.
